Political activists disrupted a campaign rally hosted by Nigel Farage this evening, carrying a banner of Russian President Vladimir Putin with the words “I <3 Nigel".
Lead by Donkeys, a group known for political stunts, attended the Reform UK leader’s rally at the Columbine Centre in Walton-on-the-Naze, Essex, and used a remote control to unfurl posters while Mr Farage was speaking.
The speech was given about seven miles north of Clacton-on-Sea, where Mr Farage is campaigning to be elected as the next Member of Parliament.
“All our children have to hear about is the bad things we’ve done in history,” Mr Farage can be heard saying in a clip posted by the group on social media website X, as a poster slowly descends from the ceiling showing a smiling Putin giving a thumbs up with the words “I <3 Nigel" underneath.
In the recording, laughter can be heard first, before Farage says: “Who put that up there? Someone at Columbine Centre should be fired, do you agree?”, to cheers and applause from the crowd.
“And we’re going to pursue them relentlessly to make sure that’s the case,” he added. “Now, take it down.”
