Police arrested a Frontier Airlines pilot on board a plane in Houston on Thursday, the airline confirmed in a statement to Business Insider.
“Frontier Airlines can confirm that a flight attendant was detained by local police at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston on August 1, 2024,” a Frontier Airlines spokesperson said in a statement.
“The incident occurred prior to boarding beginning for Flight 3195 from IAH to Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW),” the company continued. “Because a replacement crew member was not immediately available, the flight was canceled. Affected customers were offered the option of a full refund, credit, or re-boarding on the next available Frontier Airlines flight later that evening.”
The airline added that it had offered affected passengers $100 in airfare and hotel vouchers “if appropriate.”
Video footage was released on Saturday morning showing police escorting the pilot from the plane.
Footage shared on X shows the pilot being handcuffed and carried down a flight of stairs attached to the boarding bridge before being taken away to a police vehicle.
Except he doesn’t have the pilot’s “stripes” on his shoulders. Frontier Airlines pilot standard uniform.
It is unclear why he was detained.
The Houston Police Department did not immediately respond to Business Insider’s request for comment.
