Matt Hancock has responded to a series of leaked WhatsApp messages he sent during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, calling it a “massive betrayal.”

They show that Mr Hancock clashed with colleagues and officials over his attempts to reopen schools, with former Secretary of Education Sir Gavin Williamson telling Mr Hancock that during the pandemic, teachers should “not teach”. He said he was looking for an excuse to get by.
The leak also led to Hancock being accused of refusing expert advice to test Covid tests for community residents entering nursing homes in the early stages of the pandemic.
Telegraph The UK’s chief medical officer, Chris Whitty, claims to have told Mr Hancock in April 2020 that testing should be done for “everyone entering a care home”.
But in a WhatsApp message leaked to special counsel Alan Nixon, Hancock said he would “rather leave it out and promise to test and quarantine everyone who receives treatment from the hospital.”
According to the paper, he also expressed concern that expanding testing in nursing homes could “get in the way” of the 100,000 daily testing goal he hoped to achieve.
Oakshott insisted he was acting in the public interest when he chose to pass the message to the newspaper, as it would take “years” to complete an investigation into the government’s response to the pandemic. said that

Is Matt Hancock still in Congress?
Mr Hancock is currently a Member of Parliament for West Sussex, a position he has held since 2010.
He is still a member of the Conservative Party but sits in the House of Commons as an independent after the whip was withdrawn in November 2022.

When will Matt Hancock resign?
Hancock announced in December that he would not run for Congress in the next election, currently scheduled by January 2025.
In a letter to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, he wrote: In a conversation with Chief Muchi last week, he made it clear that he would eventually put the whip back together, but that is no longer necessary.”
He added: There was a time when I thought Congress was the only way to influence public debate, but I realized there was more to it than that.

Hancock joins more than a dozen Tory MPs who have announced they will not be running in the next election.
Last month, it was reported that Hancock had founded his own television and broadcasting company, suggesting he hopes to pursue a career in television after stepping down as an MP.
The company was registered in Company’s House in January at an address in Newmarket, Suffolk.
