Explore the real world to breed new fantastical creatures.
About a year after its initial publication, Pokémon GO Creator Niantic is set to release its latest location-based augmented reality (AR) game for smartphones. PeridotSimilar to the portable digital pet Tamagotchi released in 1996, it’s an adorable looking game in which you raise digital creatures called “peridots” or “dots” from birth to adulthood.
In addition to feeding and playing with DOTS, you can take DOTS on real-world adventures. When they reach adulthood, their virtual companions can hatch new generations of peridots, and according to the development team, every peridot is 100% unique to him, with everything from goat horns to giant bushy tails. Features: Some dots even resemble creatures such as cheetahs, dragons, and unicorns.
“Our team marked a handful of these that we identified as ‘archetypes’ (‘Unicorn’, ‘Clownfish’, etc.),” the Peridot team said in an official blog post. “But if this excites you, it’s your responsibility as a keeper to work with other keepers to cross-hatch the dots and discover all the different combinations possible. Including things beyond our imagination”
Senior Producer Ziah Fogel said in another post: “As you explore the world together, learn more about your cute new friends, bond with them as you play and nurture them, and work with other players to diversify their species.”
