Google is launching another feature drop for Pixel phones and Pixel Watch. Updates include faster night shots and wider availability of Magic Eraser, Health Connect, and Direct My Call+.
Night Sight, Google’s low-light photography feature, is now faster for Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro users. The company attributes the speed boost to “new and improved algorithms” in the Tensor chip inside the phone. The company also says Magic Eraser is now available on all Pixel handsets. This widely sold feature removes unwanted people and objects from your photos and (usually) seamlessly fills the background behind them. Magic Eraser was released as an exclusive feature for his Pixel 6, but the company recently extended it to older Pixels and the Google One.
Additionally, Google’s Health Connect app, a hub for storing health and fitness data from various apps, now comes pre-installed on Pixel. Finally, Direct My Call+ is coming to Pixel 4a and earlier models. This feature allows you to skip the most tedious part of dialing customer service by displaying your corporate call menu tree before you speak.
Additionally, Google has repeatedly added fall detection to the Pixel Watch (it began rolling out last month). Similar to the Apple Watch feature of the same name, it can detect a hard fall and call emergency services if there is no response. At that point, you can play an automated message to the dispatcher or talk live.
