Master these 8 ChatGPT prompting techniques to unlock the full potential of ChatGPT.
ChatGPT achieves big numbers. Launched by OpenAI on November 30, 2022, it has 173 million active users as of April 2023 (sauce), trained on 300 billion words, including crawled websites and books written by others. In April 2023, he had 1.8 billion visitors, including 15.22% of Americans, and users spent an average of 8 minutes and 32 seconds on the site.
Entrepreneurs use ChatGPT -3, -3.5, and -4 to do everything from rewriting emails to generating blog post ideas to acting as business coaches, but many use ineffective prompts. There’s a good reason why they do that. Prompt Engineer is a highly skilled role. We didn’t learn it in school. we need to learn it now.
Here are eight facilitation techniques every entrepreneur should learn.
How to Prompt ChatGPT More Effectively
1. Ask open-ended questions
Asking open-ended questions with ChatGPT encourages detailed and thoughtful answers, allowing you to explore ideas and perspectives. Like a partner mind mapping her in a meeting, she sees and evaluates what comes out. Choose what to throw away or explore further. Think about any challenge you face right now and give ChatGPT (or “Chad”) a try. Ask questions about recruitment issues, weekend woes, competence issues, hiring challenges, and more.
Ask open-ended questions to give you all the background. For example, “What is a more effective way to promote your product?” [explain your product]to appeal to an audience [explain your audience]? “
2. Provide context and constraints
ChatGPT can handle large amounts of information, giving it all the context in which it can do its job. It’s like an intern with a giant notebook, but everything is memorized and used to craft appropriate responses. Ask a general question and get a general answer. Instead, provide context and constraints to refine your question.
Given the context and constraints it looks like this: [explain what type of company you run and who it serves] the marketing budget [give an approximate amount per month you want to spend on marketing].How can I maximize my advertising efforts to reach specific demographics? [describe target audience]? “
3. Ask for specific advice and recommendations
If you’re using Internet-enabled ChatGPT, you can ask questions that include Internet searches. This allows you to gather information beyond simple text. Try this if you’re looking for specific advice or answers that previous versions of ChatGPT couldn’t provide. You can ask for platform and product recommendations. Tell them about the problem you’re trying to solve, and they’ll search the web to find a solution.
Here is an example prompt to edit accordingly: [type of platform you’re looking for] Do you have a recommended platform? [type of business you are] sale [the product or service that you sell]considering [the factors you’re looking to optimize for]? “
4. Ask pros and cons
Going through your options can be difficult when you’re doing it alone. Asking other people can create biases that you don’t want to deal with. Requesting ChatGPT to present your arguments may help you think more clearly and determine the best path forward. When you’re thinking about what to do, ask your friends at Large Language Models for a well-founded opinion.
The words to type immediately are: “What are your strengths and weaknesses?” [explain the decision you’re thinking of taking] for me [type of company you run]compared to [alternative route you could take]? “
5. Request a step-by-step plan
Breaking big tasks into smaller chunks is often the way to get things done. Working on a huge project is not easy. If you are faced with any of these, seek ChatGPT’s assistance in small steps. Ask for a plan of action you need to feel more comfortable about your list and make sure everything is covered. You may think things you never thought.
Here are the prompts for turning a voluminous task into an easy one: “Give me an overview of the key steps to success.” [explain the project you’re looking to complete] for [describe your type of business]include [include the specifics you want. For example, pre-launch activities and post-campaign follow-ups]? “
6. Seek insights from data
Analysts examine data, calculate numbers, and make recommendations based on goals. But numbers alone can do a lot. Let ChatGPT find trends in your data and use them to determine your next steps. Ask them to suggest further routes and either ignore the suggestions or go further. Or simply enable analysts to do better work in less time. Either way, driving data insights is a great use of ChatGPT.
Connect Google Analytics to ChatGPT or copy and paste your own data, then connect the dots using the prompts below. [the data you entered, for example my website analytics]which [decision you’re making for example, marketing channels, services or products to focus on] to produce more [outcome you want, for example qualified leads] for me [type of company]? “
7. Solicit creative ideas
When you wake up in the morning feeling tired and unmotivated for the next day, ChatGPT will help you get your inspiration back. Open a chat and ask for creative ideas. Specify what they are for and see what you see. Go wilder and quirkier, tone down, or prompt further instructions to find out how you can really deliver.
Edit this prompt and copy and paste as follows: “We are looking for innovative ways. [outcome you want to achieve, for example enhance customer engagement] for me [type of business you have].How can I take advantage of [areas you want ideas about, for example technology or gamification] make [outcome you want to achieve for your target audience]? “
8. Request a comparison between various options.
If you can’t choose which way to go, you can flip a coin. You can also put the fate of your business in the hands of the Magic 8-Ball gods. Alternatively, you can contact ChatGPT. More complex than a simple “yes” or “no”, it allows for comprehensive comparisons of two options and can present a curveball. Once you have the information, you are ready to make your choice.
A simple prompt to decide between the two scenarios is: “Could you provide a comparison between the following scenarios?” [the first option you’re considering] and [the second outcome you’re considering] in order to [describe what type of business you are]? The result I want to achieve is [describe the outcome you want to achieve from this decision]. “
