West Country homebuilder Devonshire Homes has completed the purchase of 50 acres of land to build a home in Ilfracombe, north of Devon.
Named Mariner’s Haven, the development is located off Old Barnstaple Road south of town, with views of the Bristol Channel and open countryside.
Devonshire Homes has planning agreements for 309 open market and 38 affordable homes, which are a mix of one and two bedroom apartments and two, three and four bedroom homes, the majority of which offer stunning sea views.
Angus Cook, Managing Director of Devonshire Homes, said: “Ilfracombe is an important site for Devonshire Homes and we are delighted to partner with HGP on this development.”
“We know there is strong demand for quality new homes among a wide range of buyers in the area. With this location close to the beautiful North Devon coastline, we anticipate Mariners Haven to be an attractive option for prospective buyers looking to stay or relocate to the area. Enjoy all the benefits of easy access to the beautiful coastline.”
“These 347 new homes represent new opportunities for locals and families, and we look forward to being part of the community.”
Partnering with social impact investor Housing Growth Partnership (HGP) to promote energy efficient new homes, the first 17 units will soon begin construction.
Phase 1 properties will be ready for occupancy in 2024 and a showhouse will open in early 2024 where house hunters can see the architecture of Devonshire Homes.
Devonshire Homes will make several donations to the local community under the S106 agreement, totaling £2m. This includes sports fields, MUGAs (multi-use gaming areas), LEAPs (local equipment areas for play), LAPS (local areas for play), and open spaces. Land will also be provided for the construction of schools and community facilities.
The Ilfracombe project is the sixth site acquired in the last six years under a joint venture agreement between the Tiverton-based homebuilder and HGP. It also marks an important strategic milestone for 30-year-old residential home developer Devonshire Homes as it pursues his ambitious five-year growth plan.
