Despite quickly gaining over 100 million users, Meta’s Threads never quite broke the zeitgeist like its main rival, X/Twitter. Perhaps they’re still waiting for the moment when a plane hits the Hudson River. Despite this, Meta is doing everything it can to draw attention and attention to text-based platforms, including displaying popular threads on Facebook and Instagram.
That latest test is also from a previous playbook. The company wants to make it easier for users to cross-post from Facebook to Threads. This could eventually allow Facebook’s heavy users and content creators to share their thoughts, videos, and photos on threads without much effort. Currently, some users can share text or link posts to threads from Facebook. There is no guarantee that Meta will roll out this feature over time or expand it to include images.
It makes sense for the meta to at least try this. Users have long been able to post Stories and Reels to Facebook and Instagram simultaneously, so adding threads there is a natural step.The meta was confirmed as tech crunch This means that the tests are running only on iOS and not available in the EU.
An opt-in approach is much smarter than automatically sharing a user’s threaded posts on Facebook. Meta has been doing this for a while to raise awareness for the former. People often have different identities on Facebook and Instagram/threads, even when associated with the same account. They may not want posts in highly political threads or dirty jokes to appear on their friends and family’s Facebook feeds. At least this gives you the option to share your post on both platforms.
