Microsoft Paint is gaining new image generation capabilities with a new tool called Cocreator. Cocreator, which utilizes a “diffusion-based algorithm,” Created based on text prompts and your own doodles in the Paint app.
The company has been experimenting with AI image generation in Paint for some time, and an early version of Cocreator has been available to developers and Windows Insiders since the fall. However, with the introduction of , this feature has become official.
In a demo at the Surface event, the company showed off how Cocreator combines user drawings and text prompts to create images. There’s also a “creativity slider” that lets you control how much you want the AI to take over compared to the original art. As Microsoft pointed out, text prompts combined with custom brush strokes allow for faster editing. It also helps provide more accurate rendering than can be achieved with DALL-E or other text-to-image generators alone.
