Labour leaders are considering shortening MPs’ summer holidays to show the party’s “momentum” in its first 100 days in power if it wins the election.

A source close to Shadow Leader Lucy Powell, who is working on drafting legislation for Labour’s first 100 days in power, said she was “totally focused on the election” and insisted she would “not accept” any proposals to shorten MPs’ summer break.
“We are counting the days until the election, not counting chickens.
“Lucy is preparing a King’s Speech and a legislative programme and our thoughts may turn to that, but not now.”
