Rishi Sunak and Sir Keir Starmer will go head to head in a BBC general election debate.
The debate between the Prime Minister and the Labour leader will be moderated by BBC news presenter Sophie Raworth and will take place in Nottingham and be broadcast on BBC One and BBC News on 26 June.
BBC journalist Mishal Hussain will host a debate on June 7 between leading figures from the Conservatives, Labour, Liberal Democrats, Scottish National Party (SNP), Plaid Cymru, the Green Party and Reform UK.
The audience and public will have the opportunity to ask questions during the debate in London.
The BBC’s election coverage will also include a two-hour leaders’ special, “Question Time”, hosted by Fiona Bruce on 20 June.
The leaders of the four main parties – the Conservatives, Labour, Liberal Democrats and Scottish National Party – will each have 30 minutes to answer questions from the studio audience.
Both Mr Sunak and Sir Keir have signed up for the final debate and the Question Time special, and the company is waiting for confirmation of attendees for the first debate.
BBC journalist Nick Robinson has invited the leaders of Britain’s seven main political parties to interview him for a special Panorama programme that will air over the next four weeks.
Additional special debates are due to be held in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.
Jonathan Munro, deputy chief executive of BBC News, said: “Televised debates have become a key feature of UK elections, giving voters the chance to hear leaders and senior politicians discuss their policies and ideas face-to-face – something rarely seen during election campaigns.
“The BBC brings people together and providing a shared space for people to debate and talk is an important part of our mission, so we’re delighted to be hosting this series of debates and election specials hosted by some incredibly talented presenters.”
The seven-way election debate will be broadcast on the BBC from 7.30pm to 9pm on Friday 7 June.
The Question Time special will air on Thursday, June 20th from 8pm to 10pm.
The Prime Minister’s Debate will air on Wednesday, June 26 from 9pm to 10pm.
All three programmes will be broadcast on BBC One, BBC News and will also be available on BBC iPlayer.
