Former President Donald Trump’s New York state concealed weapon license is likely to be revoked by the NYPD, CNN reported.
A senior police official told CNN that the NYPD is preparing to revoke the license of the former president, who was recently convicted in a hush-money trial. On May 30, a Manhattan jury found Trump guilty of 34 felony counts related to payments to Stormy Daniels.
Because Trump is a felon, possessing a firearm is a federal crime.
An NYPD spokesman had no immediate comment on the matter. An article from CNN.
Multiple law enforcement sources told CNN that Trump has held a concealed carry permit from the NYPD for more than a decade.
But his license was suspended last year, effective April 1, 2023, after a New York grand jury voted to indict the former president, a senior police official told CNN.
The official told reporters that Trump had three handgun permits, two of which were turned over to police on March 31, 2023, and the third was “legally transferred to Florida,” the source told CNN.
Although Trump was recently convicted, he could be in violation of state and federal law if he still possesses a third weapon.
A senior police official told CNN that the NYPD’s Law Enforcement Bureau is conducting an investigation that “will likely lead to the revocation of his license.”
New York State Law An individual may appeal the license revocation within 90 days of receiving the notice.
A spokesman for Trump did not respond to a request for comment.
